Who we are

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ!,

I'm so glad you're here! My name is Hope, and I'm incredibly excited to walk with you on whatever journey has led you to us for help with names!

   Bit of my background ...

I was raised Methodist-Christian, fell in love with and married my best friend, Daniel, at the Catholic college we both attended - all the while finding my heart's desire in Catholicism and converted!

I'm a homeschool Mom of six amazing kiddos from 5 months to 12 years!

I've always loved little ones, and thank God everyday for being able to live out my dream of raising these rambunctious Little Lights for His Kingdom!

With an International Studies degree I'm a bit of a language and travel nerd, and was an exchange student in Europe for a year in highschool. I'm a trained birth doula as well, with a big heart for adoption.  Allas, both births and travel will have to wait for the future someday.

I've loved thinking about names since I was in my early teens. My intrigue and interest in names has grown immensely since discerning name lists with my husband in prayer (and debate sometimes) six times!  Coming up with lists that we agree on is always a struggle, so I've leaned on many resources for inspiration and information over the years to build those lists. And through all that sifting I've learned so much!: meanings, nickname possibilities, name eras, trends, Saints/their stories, sibling sets, etc.

I'm so glad to have a way to help others with all these things rolling around my head/heart!  And not just for naming babies ... I would love to help you brainstorm ideas for pets, a confirmation Saint name, a new name for yourself, or an adopted child in search of a new name. Even if you're shopping for a new last name with a fiance' I'd love to help with that too!

May the Lord bless your name journey and spark the light of peace in your choice!

Hello!

My name is Theresa Zoe Williams and I’m an internet lurker. I'm a writer by trade and you can read my writings all over the place. I’m on Twitter/X an embarrassing amount. I was raised Catholic and still practice today— Jesus and Catholicism have been the through-line of my life and I’m excited to keep it that way.

The first time I can remember thinking about names was in preschool where I had a classmate named Chaz. His given name was Charles but his parents insisted he be called Chaz. I wondered, “If you’re going to be called something different, why not just make that your name?” Names were very important to me from the get-go!

Over the years, as I progressed as a writer and a person, names continued to be important to me. One year for Christmas, I asked for a huge book of baby names to drool over— even though I was years away from naming children of my own. I just liked names! And my characters needed good names. I also was very invested in the names of all of my family members— I know the full names and Confirmation names of all my aunts and uncles and the full names of my grandparents and their siblings!

I took this energy into naming my own children Ruby, Peter, and Penny (you can read their name stories at those links). When I found the Sancta Nomina community, I knew I had found my people. After being part of the community for a while, I became Kate’s first naming “intern”. Basically, if she was too busy for a consultation or someone asked specifically for me, I’d do consultations for Sancta Nomina.

Now I’m striking out with Hope to bring you prayer-filled, knowledge-backed, loving name consultations. I think a name is such an important part of a person and that every name counts. I want to help you fall in love with names and make meaningful choices for your children…or whatever else in your life needs a good name!

Let’s do this!

~Theresa Zoe
